Suicide Squad: Jared Leto on The Joker Rumor

I don't understand how or why they picked Will Smith to play Deadshot. Is it because if they don't have a African American in a movie nowadays it's racist? They should pick actors that fit the part because they also enjoy the comics and know about them. Actors that seriously enjoy those characters and their stories.  He's a decent actor, I have nothing against him, I just don't see the logic in casting him for that part.
